AYURVEDIC DESCRIPTION :
Amalaki or Indian gooseberry is known for its therapeutic and medicinal properties from ancient times and is used in various herbal formulations. It is known to pacify tri doshas, especially the pitta dosha.
Amla balances Vata dosha because of amla rasa, pitta dosha due to madhura vipaka, and kapha dosha due to Kashaya rasa and ruksha guna. Acharya Charaka considers Amalaki as one of the most potent and rejuvenating herbs, stating "Amalaki Vayasthapnanam Sreshtham."
It possesses properties like Rasayana (adaptogenic), Ajara (anti-aging), Ayushprada(prolonged cell life), Vrushya(aphrodisiac) and Sadhaniya (improves cell migration and cell binding). It promotes, protects and extends the youthful state thus, slowing down the aging process. It helps manage diabetes, is useful in throat diseases, improves voice, is good for the heart and relieves burning sensation.
