Sarpagandha Plus Tablets feature standardized extract of Rauvolfia serpentina—a classical Ayurvedic herb revered for its powerful hypotensive, sedative, and neuro-calming actions. Traditionally described as Chandrika (the one that soothes like moonlight), Sarpagandha is well-known for helping manage high blood pressure, stress, insomnia, and mental restlessness.
By acting on the central nervous system, it promotes a state of balance in Vata and Pitta, supporting deep sleep and emotional well-being.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIONS:
- Hypotensive Agent: Acts centrally and peripherally to lower blood pressure via vasodilation and CNS modulation.
- Sedative & Anxiolytic: Induces calmness and mental peace by stabilizing Vata-predominant nervous disturbances.
- Antipsychotic & Tranquilizer: Contains reserpine-like alkaloids beneficial in the management of schizophrenia and manic episodes.
- Muscle Relaxant: Eases neuromuscular tension, supporting smooth sleep initiation and stress recovery.

AYURVEDIC INSIGHT:
Sarpagandha is described in the Ayurvedic Nighantus as a powerful Vata-Pitta pacifying herb with specific action on Manovaha Srotas (mental and emotional channels).
It is often used in Unmada, Raktachapa (BP disorders), and Anidra (insomnia). Known for its grounding and soothing effects, it is especially beneficial in individuals with overactive mental faculties, stress-related palpitations, and excess sympathetic drive.
CLIMATE & REGION:
Sarpagandha grows naturally in tropical forests and foothills, preferring moist, shaded environments. It is commonly cultivated in Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Kerala, and the Western Ghats of India. The roots are the medicinally valuable parts, harvested at maturity after 2–3 years of growth.
