Ayurvedic Description:

Arjuna is a revered herb in Ayurvedic medicine, widely known for its benefits in supporting heart health.  It helps balance both Kapha and Pitta doshas, but excessive consumption may increase Vata dosha. Arjuna also acts on dhatus (tissues) such as rakta (blood), meda (fat), asthi (bone), and sukra (reproductive tissue), and specifically targets the srotas (channels) of circulation and reproduction.

With its Hridya (heart-strengthening) properties, Arjuna is recognized for its ability to fortify the cardiac system, making it an essential herb for maintaining heart health. It also exhibits Vranahara (wound-healing) qualities and Bhagna Sandhanakara (fracture healing), offering therapeutic effects in wound care and bone health. In addition to its role in treating chest injuries, Arjuna is also beneficial in managing bleeding disorders, reducing fat and cholesterol levels, and supporting overall cardiovascular wellness. Its holistic effects on the body make it a cornerstone of Ayurvedic healing practices.

Climate and Region:

Arjuna is an evergreen tree that typically reaches a height of 60 to 80 feet. While it can thrive in various soil types, it prefers humid, fertile loam and red laterite soils. The tree is commonly found along rivers, streams, and dry water bodies. Native to the Indian subcontinent, Arjuna is also found in regions of Africa, Southeast Asia, Australia, and South America. In India, it is particularly abundant in the forests of Central India, including the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
