Ayurvedic Description
Neem is hailed as "Sarva Roga Nivarini" in Ayurveda, meaning "the healer of all ailments." Its widespread use in traditional medicine has earned it a reputation for detoxifying the body both internally and externally. Neem is classified as a Krimighna (antimicrobial herb) in ancient Ayurvedic texts, valued for its ability to destroy harmful pathogens and parasites. It also acts as a Shodhana (detoxifier), purifying the blood and skin while balancing the body’s doshas.
In Ayurveda, Neem is primarily used to pacify Kapha and Pitta imbalances and is known for its cooling, purifying, and rejuvenating properties. Neem’s bitter taste and cold potency make it ideal for treating heat-related skin conditions and for calming inflammation throughout the body.
Climate and Region
Neem flourishes in hot, arid climates and is native to the Indian subcontinent. The tree can grow in a wide range of soil conditions but prefers sub-humid to semi-arid areas. Neem is found across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and parts of Africa. In India, it is particularly abundant in regions such as Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
